Therapeutic Touch ®
- is an intentionally directed process of energy exchange during which the practitioner uses the hands as a focus to facilitate the healing process.
- was developed in the early 1970s through the pioneering work of Dr. Dolores Krieger, now Professor Emerita of New York University, and Dora Van Gelder Kunz, a natural healer.
- is a scientifically based intervention, practiced in major hospitals and universities.
- is based on the idea that human beings are energy in the form of a field. In health, the field is balanced. In contrast, disease is a condition of energy imbalance or disorder.
- promotes relaxation, alters the perception of pain, and mobilizes the individual’s own healing energies.
