Therapeutic Touch International Association has a rich history of Congresses that involve the global TT community with programs and speakers. All our programs offer CNEs to RNs, and support all our practitioners and teachers with information they can use in their TT Practice. In 2022, TTIA celebrated 50 years of Therapeutic Touch since its inception in 1972 by Dr. Dolores Krieger and Dora Kunz. Our very first anthology of TT stories was shared, both in writing and in TT practitioners’ own voices reading aloud their experiences. The picture video below capture moments of a beautiful celebration of Therapeutic Touch’s lasting legacy from yesterday, to today, and on to tomorrow. In 2019 we held our 5th TTIA International Congress in Toronto, ON, Canada in cooperation with our TT Colleagues from The Therapeutic Touch Network Ontario. 2019 was the year that our Co-Founder Dolores Krieger, RN PhD passed on at the young age of 97. We are happy to share with you the video of our memories of Dee, created by Marlene Summers- UT with the help of Lin Bauer – OR. Chicago, IL USA was the site for our 4th TTIA International Congress, and we were graced with the presence of Tim Boyd, President of the Theosopical Society who had grown up under the tutelage of Dora Kunz, Co-Founder of Therapeutic Touch. Our Keynote speakers were Dolores (Dee) Krieger, PhD, RN, QTTT – Co-founder of Therapeutic Touch speaking on Compassion as Power in Therapeutic Touch: A Highly Human Function and Gloria Gronowicz, PhD, QTTP – Cell Biologist and Professor Emeritus, Dept. of Orthopedic Surgery, UCONN, School of Medicine and Dentistry speaking on Understanding the Human Biofield. We held a two-day pre-conference for our Teachers to update them on the Guidelines for Teaching Therapeutic Touch that had been adopted in 2017. Over the weekend we were inspired by the members who presented on various TT topics at our breakout sessions, and we held a Blast from the Past Sock Hop on Saturday night serenaded by an enthusiastic group of karaoke singers. Our closing ceremony was touching as we realized that it might be our last one with Dee physically present.
Our 3rd TTIA International Congress was held in 2015 in Seattle, WA USA. We held a Teachers’ Day on Friday and then an opening reception with an inspiring Keynote by Stephan Schwartz Friday evening, and a full weekend of more inspiration from our own Dee Krieger, RN PhD, and Dr. Gladys McGarey, the mother of Holistic Medicine and her sister, Margaret Courtwright BS RN. We had a full two days of reports on what was happening at the TT Dialogues held annually in Montana, and International Panel, and breakout sessions from our members updating us on more things happening in the evolution of Therapeutic Touch.
